Discussion on MultiMedia Technologies Used in Project:
We used this discussion page to record questions and answers that cropped up in the course of working on our project. We had so many questions about what software to use to listen or how to access our files; about MIDI; about our keyboard connections; and so on. We wanted to post questions here for anyone to help answer them and to submit suggestions.
Q: How do I use these MIDI files in my classroom?
A: Go "on-line" with your Internet connection and do the actual selection and playing while on-line. However, you may also wish to copy the MIDI file into one of your own files on your computer to recall and use any time you wish. Use the copy and paste methods to get them into your files. We printed the Text to the songs in a font appropriate for younger children. Please feel free to copy and print them for a song binder for your children.
Q: Would you recommend purchasing Finale to use in the classroom?
A: Not for primary grades. It is an excellent resource for Junior - Senior High students for composing original music. Matt has shared with us some of his compositions. (Click here to listen to Matt's Music.)
