August, 1999 - completion of project.  We decided to finish work on this project and let it stand on its own as it is. Using the Finale program proved to be very time consuming and difficult to use. The scores cannot be read by any Internet user unless they have a Finale download or purchased version. The sizes of the score files were huge and consumed too much space on our computers and disks for their worth. Teachers will still find the site useful, even though the music resource did not grow to the size we had first imagined it to be.

March 15 - August

  • Link page researched and organized
  • Using Finale now and have some specific problems worked out; Matt is composing pieces using Finale.
  • Beginning to input songs into MIDI format first
  • Leaving scores for songs until later

January 15 - March 15

  • Design web page
  • Purchased keyboard at Mother's Music
  • Investigated software - decision between Encore 4 or Finale
  • Purchased Finale
  • New software program recommended by Weed Music
  • Beginning to record melodies, lyrics, and scores
  • Learning FTP (File Transfer Procedures) for updating web site

December 15 - January 15:

  • Project application completed
  • Funding application submitted
  • "Web design" professional development initiated
  • Music hardware/software research initiated at Mother's Music in Edmonton and Weed Music in Spruce Grove

January 5 - June 12, 1999

  • We invited teachers from around the world to participate in this project by submitting or requesting music appropriate for grades K-3.  We were hoping that classrooms would become involved by creating original lyrics or melodies that would apply to the themes listed below.
  • We decided not to follow a schedule for inputting the music information.  It was easier for us to record using one resource, then another, and so on.  We input music under all categories as we came to them.
